Neurofeedback Brain Training

If you’re new to neurofeedback, it’s completely natural to have questions. Below are some of the most common things people ask about NeurOptimal® Brain Training and what you can expect.

What is neurofeedback brain training?

NeurOptimal® brain training is a gentle, non-invasive form of neurofeedback that works with your brain in real time. It reads your brain activity and offers feedback through brief, barely noticeable pauses in the music you're listening to. Those pauses are simply information,  a signal that allows your brain to notice what it's doing and make small adjustments on its own. Over time and with repetition, many people find they feel calmer, clearer and more resilient.

What happens in a session?

You sit back, relax and listen to music while small sensors placed on your scalp and ears quietly read your brain activity. That's really it. Your brain responds to the feedback naturally and in its own way. Each session includes around 33 minutes of active brain training.

Does it stimulate the brain?

No, and this is one of the things I love most about it. NeurOptimal® doesn't send any electricity or stimulation into the brain. It simply reads what's already happening and reflects that information back. The brief pauses in the music are the feedback. Your brain does the rest.

How many sessions will I need?

Every brain is different, so there's no one size fits all answer. Some people notice shifts quite quickly. For others, changes build gradually over time. What tends to make the biggest difference is consistency. We can talk through a training plan together that feels realistic and right for you.

Can this replace therapy?

Brain training and talk therapy are different things, and for many people they work beautifully alongside each other. NeurOptimal® can create a quieter internal space that makes reflection and insight feel more accessible, which is why I often weave it together with wellbeing counselling support.
