NeurOptimal® Brain Training

If you’re new to neurofeedback, it’s completely natural to have questions. Below are some of the most common things people ask about NeurOptimal® Brain Training and what you can expect.

What is NeurOptimal® Brain Training?

NeurOptimal® is a gentle form of neurofeedback that works with your brain in real time. It reads your brain activity and provides feedback through brief pauses in sound. These pauses give the brain information about what it’s doing in the moment. This allows the brain to notice its own patterns and make small adjustments over time. With repetition, many people experience greater calm, clarity and resilience.

What happens in a session?

You sit comfortably while small sensors are placed on your scalp and ears to read your brain activity. You listen to specially composed instrumental music that is calming and immersive. Occasionally, you’ll hear brief pauses in the music. These pauses are the feedback. There’s nothing you need to do, your brain naturally responds to the information it receives. Each session includes around 33 minutes of active training.

Does it stimulate the brain?

No. NeurOptimal® does not send electricity or stimulation into the brain. It simply reads brain activity and uses brief pauses in the music as signals to the brain. This feedback allows calibration to occur, helping the brain gradually refine and update its patterns over time.

How is this different from other neurofeedback systems?

Some neurofeedback systems focus on specific symptoms or target certain brainwave frequencies. NeurOptimal® works with the whole brain. It doesn’t diagnose or tell the brain what to do. Instead, it allows the brain to adjust itself naturally, moment by moment.

How many sessions will I need?

Every brain is different. Some people notice changes quickly. For others, improvements build gradually over time. Consistency helps the brain strengthen new patterns. We can discuss a training plan that feels realistic and supportive for you.

Can this replace therapy?

Neurofeedback is brain training, not talk therapy. However, therapeutic support and guidance are available.
